About us

Our Background History
& Current Governance

Barokologadi ba Ga Maotwe are a Tswana tribe who live in the North-West province of South Africa. They originally split from the ‘Bapedi’ Community and sought refuge among Bakgatla Ba Kgafela.
Barokologadi ba ga Maotwe community as a community are the direct descendants of the originally dispossessed community, who were dispossessed of rights in land as defined by the (Restitution of Land Rights Act No.22 of 1994) as amended.

Developments and Challenges

Since its inception in 2007 the Barokologadi CPA has been successfully holding annual general meetings, in line with its constitution. Elective AGM’s are held every 5 years in line with the constitution. The current Executive Committee was elected at BCPA’s 3rd elective AGM on 21 October 2017.
Kgosi Thari Maotwe serves as the ex-officio member of the Executive Committee. Other committees reporting to the Executive include: Village committees, Business subcommittee, Central Youth committee and the directors of the BCPA owned company, Basebo Farming Projects.
